On Context

Context is a form of metadata that guides us on how to parse content. An example of how we parse content based on the context: if someone sends us an edgy policy proposal, we evaluate it based on the metadata we have about the sender. If they are an elderly relative on facebook who is likely to sincerely think that the questionable policy proposal is a good idea, we might cringe. If the sender is a close friend who we know enjoys satirical content and modest proposals, we may smile and have a respectable chuckle.

This metadata is the context.

There is also context from living in a society:

So what do we do with this information?

We use a random meme generator in an article about context as the second example.
